BERNARD STILWELL
Director

Bernard is a graduate of the Liverpool School of Architecture. He joined Powell & Moya and Partners in 1983 where he became a director, before leaving to set up Bernard Stilwell Architects in 1997.

He has taught at the University of Cambridge and at the LSA and assessed for the Civic Trust Awards and the Hackney Design Awards. He is currently a tutor and examiner on the University of Westminster's RIBA Part 3 course, lecturing in professional practice in architecture.

Mike

PATRICK MONAGHAN
Director

After studying architecture in Brighton and London Patrick worked in London and Manchester for RIBA Gold Medal and Stirling Prize winning practices, Powell & Moya and Hodder & Partners , before helping to set up his current practice in 1997.

Patrick has taught as a studio master at the University of Cambridge and at the University of Greenwich and been a visiting critic at the University of Westminster. Formerly a Governor of Middlesex University he is currently a Lead Examiner for the Architects Registration Board and a Chair member of the RIBA’s Education Validation Panel with whom he has visited and validated schools of architecture in the UK, South America and the Far East.

John

TERESA CHARTERS
Director

Teresa was a professional ballet dancer with the National Ballet Company of Portugal before studying Civil Engineering at Lisbon University. After moving to the UK she studied accountancy and was in charge of accounts at the Portuguese Embassy’s Education Department. She became a director of Bernard Stilwell Architects in 2006 and is responsible for the Practice’s finance. Teresa has extensive experience in community outreach projects in housing, education and social issues, having worked with several Local Authorities in some of the most deprived London boroughs. She supports the elderly through charitable projects and has recently graduated as a dance teacher for people with neurological diseases.
